You are spending a holiday on the Elba island or already live on this beautiful island. And you are thinking of giving yourself a trip to another equally unforgettable island: Sardinia. There is, of course, to book the ferry crossing and you still don’t know exactly how to do it.
Below you will find all the information you need.
- The port of departure. The first thing you need to do is to reach the mainland. In fact, the main port near the Elba island from which ferries depart for Sardinia is Piombino, well connected to Portoferraio, Cavo and Rio Marina. The ferry crossing takes about an hour. Once you arrive in Piombino, you can board another ferry to Sardinia.
- How to book. You can make your ticket booking from home in few minutes. In fact, it’s enough to use our online booking system, indicating the route, day and time of departure, day and time for the return, number and age of passengers. Printable tickets will be sent directly by e-mail. Have another advice: board a car on the ferry, so you can move in Sardinia in total freedom (in this case, remember to arrive at the boarding point about two hours before departure).
- The ports of arrival. If the port of departure is Piombino, for the port of arrival you can choose between two possibilities: Olbia, on the northern coast of the island, and the nearby port of Golfo Aranci. From here, you can start to discover some of the most beautiful places in Sardinia, including beaches, nuraghi, islands, cities rich in history, art and culture, not to mention a bit of healthy fun.
- Duration. As already mentioned, the ports of Olbia and Golfo Aranci are really very close. So, in both cases, the duration of the crossing is always the same: it takes about eight hours and thirty minutes to get from Piombino to Sardinia.
