For you, it is the most important day of the Summer holidays. A special day that, of course, should be spent in a very special way. And, if your next vacation will be in Sardinia, we have four excellent ideas to spend the feast of the Assumption 2016.

1. Traditions

The Faradda di li Candareri is one of the most traditional events in Sardinia. It lasts three days, from August 12th to 14th. The most important moment is represented by August 14th, with the procession of enormous wooden candles through the city of Sassari.

The day after is August 15th. To spend it, you can choose between:

  • visit Sassari, one of the most beautiful cities in the north part of Sardinia;
  • get to Porto Torres, where the charm of history meets beautiful beaches.

2. Nightlife

Trendy discotheques. Lots of people who just want to have fun. Drink a tasty cocktail. Dance until dawn near a fabulous sea. In other words: this is you desire to spend the feast of the Assumption 2016.

In this case, the best places to live the Sardinian nightlife are:

  • Costa Smeralda
  • San Teodoro
  • Santa Teresa di Gallura
  • Alghero
  • Villasimius

3. Relaxation

Why get stressed during holidays? This vacation can be the perfect time to restore body and mind. Maybe you don’t know but Sardinia is (also) the island of spas. In particular, the best destinations are:

4. Fireworks

Over the years, it’s become a real tradition. Castelsardo is a small town in the province of Sassari, along the north coast of Sardinia. Every year, on August 15th, the Notte dei fuochi (literally “night of the fireworks”) takes place. This event is recommend especially if you’re spending a holiday with the whole family (for further information, visit Comune.castelsardo.ss.it).
