New Year’s Eve 2016 in Cagliari

Spend New Year’s Eve 2016 in Sardinia is the gift that you have decided to enjoy this winter. The chosen destination is Cagliari, the Sardinian capital city. Do you need some good ideas to celebrate worthily the last day of the year?

1. Discover the city

The last day of the year begins discovering Cagliari, which is (and don’t forget it) one of the most beautiful Mediterranean cities. The places to see in one day are several and this is the right time to do it: Quartiere Castello, Poetto, Bastione di Saint Remy, Torre dell’elefante, Torre di San Pancrazio, Palazzo reale, Cattedrale di Santa Maria.

After a light lunch, it’s time to rest from 5pm to 7 pm.

2. A delicious dinner

It’s not New Year’s Eve without the traditional dinner. Sardinian cuisine is very delicious. In the old town centre of Cagliari, cozy, small restaurants will offer special menus.

Very renowned is also the wine tradition of Sardinia. A glass (two at most) of Cannonau is the best way to appreciate the flavors of the delicacies that you will taste.

3. And now, concerts in the squares

Also for the 2016 edition, the city of Cagliari has chosen the formula of the Capodanno diffuso (literally, “diffused New Year’s Eve”) with events, concerts and DJ sets in the main squares of Sardinian capital city:

  • piazza San Domenico: Mambo Django (live) and Daniele Diaz (dj set)
  • piazza Savoia: Mudras Quartet (live) and Zimbra (dj set)
  • bastione Santa Croce: Beat Street (live) and Federico Fenu (dj set)
  • piazza Yenne: Statuto (live) and The Skatalites (live)

All concerts will begin at 10 pm. For more information, you can visit municipality of Cagliari official website.
