A weekend, on May 5th and 6th. A whole weekend to discover the less-known parts of the Sardinian capital. In fact, just in these days, one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year in Sardinia will take place in Cagliari: we’re talking about the 2018 edition of Monumenti aperti.
It’s twenty-second edition, a sign of the great interest that this specific event arouses each year. During Monumenti aperti, in fact, all tourists will have the opportunity to discover the monuments (churches, libraries, castles, monasteries, museums) that, usually, are closed to the public.
During the days of the event, it will be possible to participate in guided tours during which experts and enthusiasts will illustrate peculiarities and characteristics of the monument. Moreover, in strategic points of the city will be set up info points where you can get all the information.
However, there will also be time for a little bit of more “canonical” tourism. Because in Cagliari there are some of the most beautiful places in Sardinia. Places that can be discovered thanks to these two itineraries:
- The first is to visit Cagliari in one day and see its most representative places: among many, there are the historic centre, the bastion of Saint Remy, the torre dell’Elefante (a tower) and the cathedral.
- The second is the itinerary of the most beautiful beaches in Cagliari: Poetto, Tuerredda and Porto Giunco would not even need any introduction and, thanks to the mild climate on Sardinia, you can also plunge into the sea for the first time of the year.
