Legends, nuraghi, nature, traditions: Meana Sardo is a country rich in awesomeness. In other words, it is a perfect place to host Autunno in Barbagia, which will take place here from October 9 to 11.
Arriving in Meana Sardo, the first surprise comes from nature: this is an area rich in forests, hills and springs. And it is an area crossed by several paths. The vineyards, covering the hills, give scents and colors. On the mountains, it’s still possible to see the ancient shepherds’ shelters.
But the most characteristic feature of Meana Sardo territory are those ten nuraghi scattered between low hills. They are an invaluable testimony of what was the ancient and flourishing Nuragic civilization. Around these nuraghi, over the years, so many legends have flourished. And right there, on the highest point of the plateau of Su Pranu, lies the dolmen of Nolza, one of the most popular.
Here, the charm of history meets the old traditions of Sardinia. Traditions that survive in the Cortes apertas, the courtyards of the historic houses: here you can discover forgotten crafts, food and wine specialties, rituals.
The largest town near Meana Sardo is Nuoro, a great starting point to attend this event of Autunno in Barbagia:
The journey by car should take about an hour and a half. While getting to Nuoro from the ports of Olbia and Arbatax takes about an hour by car.
