The exhibition was inaugurated on March 22nd, 2014, and it will last until December 31st, 2016. In other words, there is less than a month to see the giants (“giganti”) of Mont’e Prama in Cagliari, one of the great historical and archaeological treasures of the island. And it’s a wonderful idea during your Christmas holiday in Sardinia.
- What are the giants? The kolossoi, or giganti di Mont’e Prama, were 2-mters-high red sandstone statues. Built between the ninth and eleventh centuries BC, they were found broken into thousands fragments.
- Where. The exhibition of the giants of Mont’e Prama (Mont’e Prama is the place, on Sinis peninsula, where they were found in March 1974) is set in the halls of the Museo archeologico nazionale di Cagliari (the archaeological museum of the city). This place is very easy to reach.
- Cagliari. And so, for this Christmas holiday, you have chosen Cagliari, one of the most beautiful cities of the Mediterranean Sea. To discover its many sides, the monuments, the panoramas and the less-known places of the Sardinian capital city, you have seven different itineraries, which will show you unforgettable places.
- Further information. For further information about the exhibition of the giganti di Mont’e Prama in Cagliari (tickets, opening times, any changes), you can visit Museo archeologico nazionale di Cagliari official website, Museoarcheocagliari.beniculturali.it.
