You are on a ferry that will bring you from Palau to la Maddalena, a must-see place of every holiday in Sardinia. You have the itinerary to visit this unforgettable island. And you know that, nearby, there’s another small island and it’s really worth a visit. We’re talking about Caprera Island.
- The road. From La Maddalena town, follow the road signs to Marina del Ponte. Once in Marina del Ponte, take Benvenuto Cellini road. It is a paved road, built on a sort of six hundred meters long dam between the two islands. You will drive, literally, surrounded by the beautiful sea of the archipelago.
- The Passo della moneta. In the middle of the dam there’s a swing bridge. This is the so-called Passo della Moneta or Ponte della Moneta. The origin of the name is the nearby frazione (a territorial subdivision) of Moneta.
- The island. And once you are on Caprera? Well, it’s time to visit this island: Spiaggia del Relitto, Spiaggia dei Due Mari, Cala Andreani and Cala Coticcio are the most beautiful beaches; other things to see are the home of Giuseppe Garibaldi and the monument to the Italian patriot.
