Autunno in Barbagia in Teti: discover ancient archeological sites

Autunno in Barbagia continues its journey in the heart of Sardinia to discover hidden treasures and unspoilt places. On November 28 and 29, the event will take place in Teti.

The first remains of an ancient Nuragic civilization, hidden on the mountains of Barbagia, were found in 1865: in that year, Teti became famous for the archeological museum created with the remains found in its territory. The Venere dormiente (“Sleeping Venus”) was found here, one of the most important and ancient Sardinian works of art. And in this area was found the Santuario di Albini (“Albini Sanctuary”), a very ancient place of worship.

Teti is a special place not only for its ancient history. Woods, hills, rocks and natural sources: the country is surrounded by an area rich in vegetation, ideal habitat of many species, such as deers, wild boars, foxes, eagles. And during Autunno in Barbagia 2015 it’s possible to visit the ancient houses of Teti.

How to get there

Teti is located in the province of Nuoro. To get from Nuoro to Teti:

• Take the SS129
• Take the SS131
• Take the SP17 and then the SP4 to Teti

The journey by car takes about one hour.

To get to Nuoro, the most important tourist ports are:

• Olbia, on the north coast
• Arbatax, on the east coast
