Autunno in Barbagia in Fonni: uncontaminated nature and ancient history

Autunno in Barbagia continues and the next leg is Fonni: from December 6 to 8, you can immerse yourselves in the history and in the culture of a very ancient place.

Fonni

Fonni has ancient Nuragic origins, and it’s proud of its many archeological sites. As several of the other legs of Autunno in Barbagia 2015, this place preserves its history jealously: prehistoric nuraghi, the necropolis of Madau, the sanctuary of Gremanu, the menhirs and the domus de janas are the evidences of a prosperous and important past. The most characteristic site is Gremanu-Madau, famous for the hydraulic engineering work that was used to bring water from the natural springs to the village.

The town lies at the foot of Gennargentu and is immersed in a wild and untouched nature. Fonni is also famous for being the highest town in Sardinia, ideal destination for mountain vacation in winter and in summer. Autunno in Barbagia will allow you to immerse yourself in the natural and historical treasures of Fonni, to discover the secrets of Sardinia.
